The good news is that periodontal disease often can be treated with a deep cleaning called Scaling, root planning or non-surgical treatment. In this treatment, plaque and tartar are carefully removed from the tooth and bottom of each periodontal pocket. This procedure is done with a topical or local anesthetic to make the patient feel comfortable.
